Before reading this article, it is best to get a general overview of how the letter of engagement is set-up in Go Proposal which can be found here.
It is likely that you have different letters of engagement depending on the entity you are working with, such as sole traders and limited companies.
This will be one of the first things you select when creating a proposal:
The first thing you will want to do when building out your letters of engagement is set up your templates. Here's how.
How to Set Up
Step 1. Go to Configure > Letter of engagement > Letter of engagement types
Log in to the admin section of your app and go to the letter of engagement section.
The letter of engagement templates in here are only samples and you will want to add in your own versions, using the Go Proposal templates for reference.
Step 2. Select 'add new version'
A pop up window should appear with the following fields to be filled:
This is the title of your template - for example, limited company or sole trader.
Open up a recent letter of engagement tailored towards the template you are creating (in this case, a limited company).
Copy and paste the introduction into this box.
Merge tags are a great way to automate important references, such as your clients first and last name, their company name and your details.
To add merge tags, choose from the drop down menu that pops up when you select 'add merge tag'
Headings are important since they form the contents (front) page of the letter of engagement.
As with the introduction, you will want to copy and paste the scope text into this box.
Terms & Conditions
Now, paste in the terms and conditions relating to the template letter you are creating.
If you need to reference websites or documents, you can link to these using the paperclip thumbnail.
Step 3. Save your template
Hit save once you're happy with your template.
Repeat steps 1 - 3 to build out your other letter of engagement templates.
Step 5. Build out the rest of your letter of engagement
The remainder of your letter of engagement will be comprised of the universal content and service schedules.
Steps 2 and 3 of this article will show you how to set these up.
Tips & Tricks
- When copying and pasting from your letter of engagement into the Go Proposal app, it is best to initially copy the information into a plain text editor such as notepad. Then, copy the text from notepad and paste it into our app. This avoids bits of code lurking in the background and effecting the formatting.
