Why do I need to set up 2FA?

You’ve signed up for a Sage account, and 2FA is mandatory for enhanced security.

Set up 2FA

  1. When prompted, click Set up 2-factor authentication.

  2. Confirm your First name and Last name, then click Continue.

  3. You’ll see a QR code for setting up 2FA using an authenticator app. Other options are also available.

2FA options

You can choose one of the following methods:

  • Authenticator app (Recommended): Use an app to generate a onetime six-digit code

  • Voice: Receive a phone call or voicemail with your code

  • Text: Receive a text message with your code

Option one – authenticator app (Recommended)

  1. Download an authenticator app such as Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, or Authy.

  2. Scan the QR code displayed on your screen. (If you can’t scan the code, click Can’t scan the QR code? to copy a key and paste it into your app).

  3. Enter the six-digit code from the app, then click Continue.

  4. Copy the recovery code shown on the screen and store it securely.

  5. Select I have saved my recovery code, then click Continue.

📌TIP: Don't continue until you’ve saved your recovery code.

Option two – voice

  1. Click Verify a different way at the bottom of the screen.

  2. Select Phone (Text message or phone call) and choose Phone call.

  3. Enter your phone number, then click Continue.

  4. Enter the six-digit code you receive, then click Continue.

  5. Copy and store your recovery code securely, then confirm you’ve saved it.

📌TIP: Don't continue until you’ve saved your recovery code.

Option three – text

  1. Click Verify a different way at the bottom of the screen.

  2. Select Phone (Text message or phone call) and choose Text message.

  3. Enter your phone number, then click Continue.

  4. Enter the six-digit code you receive, then click Continue.

  5. Copy and store your recovery code securely, then confirm you’ve saved it.

📌TIP: Don't continue until you’ve saved your recovery code.

Set up a recovery method

We recommend setting up a recovery method, such as an alternative email address or phone number. This allows you to reset your 2FA or request a new recovery code if needed. Alternatively, you can use the recovery method to reset your 2FA.
