How to Resolve Common Issues with Engagement Letters in GoProposal Proposals
Engagement letters are a critical component of proposals in GoProposal, ensuring clarity and compliance in client agreements. However, users can encounter specific issues when working with engagement letters.
Common issues and resolutions
1. Statutory auditor name not appearing
If the statutory auditor's name isn't visible in the engagement letter or the dropdown box for a charity audit:
Change the type of charity setting in the proposal to a company.
Add the statutory auditor's name in the now-enabled field.
Revert the type of charity setting back to the correct type. The auditor's name saves.
This workaround ensures the auditor's name displays correctly in the engagement letter.
2. Placeholder or merge-field text appearing
Placeholder or merge-field text can appear in your engagement letter when generating a proposal. This typically occurs if you select a placeholder engagement letter or template. Placeholder templates contain sample text and merge fields that require user amendment. To resolve:
Ensure you select the correct engagement letter template (not a placeholder) before generating the proposal.
Review the selected template to confirm it's finalised and doesn't contain placeholder text.
This will prevent the system pulling in placeholder text into the final proposal.
Best practices for template selection
Always double-check the engagement letter template before generating a proposal
Use finalised templates to avoid placeholder text or incomplete fields
Regularly update templates to ensure they meet current compliance and business requirements
