How to fix formatting issues in proposals and engagement letters

Formatting issues often occur when you copy text from other sources, such as Word or PDF documents, into GoProposal templates. Hidden code can cause inconsistencies in your final documents.

Written by Jack Choppin

Why does this happen?

  • Copying text from formatted documents can include hidden styling code

  • This code conflicts with GoProposal’s formatting, causing misaligned text, incorrect fonts, or spacing issues in your PDFs

How to fix formatting issues

  1. Copy the problematic text from your GoProposal template.

  2. Paste it into a plain text editor (for example, Notepad).

  3. Copy the cleaned text from the plain text editor.

  4. Paste it back into the required section in GoProposal.

  5. Reapply formatting such as:

    • Subheadings

    • Bullet points

    • Bold or italic text

📌 TIP: Always use GoProposal’s built-in formatting tools for consistency.
