What Is GoCardless?
GoCardless enables businesses to collect payments by Direct Debit. You can:
Collect one-off or recurring payments of any amount
Choose collection dates for predictable revenue
Manage payments online or via the GoCardless API
In GoProposal, using GoCardless ensures clients set up payment details during or after proposal acceptance, so you don’t need to chase for bank details.

Step 1 - Connect GoCardless to GoProposal
📎 NOTE: You need an active GoCardless account before starting.
In GoProposal, go to Settings and select Integrations.
Find GoCardless and click Connect.
Log in to your GoCardless account and enter your details.
After successful login, you'll return to the GoProposal integrations page.
Step 2 - Configure integration settings
On the integration settings page, you can:
Choose proposal templates: Apply GoCardless only to selected templates. For example, use it for new clients but not for existing ones with payment plans
Decide when clients set up payments:
During acceptance:GoCardless is part of the acceptance process
The proposal won’t show as ‘won’ until the client accepts and enters payment details
After acceptance:
Clients can accept the proposal without entering payment details
A thank-you page prompts them to set up payments after signing
You can customise this page in the integration settings
📎 NOTE: If you're also connecting GoCardless to Xero, ensure you use GoCardless for Xero, not GoCardless in Xero.
