Do I need a new engagement letter for bookkeeping or payroll reviews?

Understand whether you need a new GoProposal engagement letter when reviewing bookkeeping or payroll fees. Find out how to ensure you're fully protected.

At GoProposal, we recommend reviewing payroll fees monthly and bookkeeping fees quarterly, as these services often go out of scope quickly.

You don't need a new engagement letter for these reviews if:

  • You informed the client at the start of the agreement

  • You maintain ongoing communication

  • Your Terms and Conditions cover this scenario

Add this statement to your Terms and Conditions

If you review fees based on transaction volume or payroll numbers, include this statement:

"Where the quote for the work is dependent on the volume of transactions, for example employee numbers or number of invoices, a regular review will be undertaken for any changes and the fee will be updated accordingly."

How to add the statement in OverSuite

  1. Go to Configure and select Engagements.

  2. Scroll to Terms and Conditions and open the tab.

  3. Select Add paragraph at the bottom of the relevant section.

  4. Enter the statement and click Add Paragraph.

For fee reviews, add this to Section 17: Fees, Payment Terms and Timetable.

📎NOTE: Future compliance reviews won't update any statements you add manually
