How biometric checks work in GoProposal AML

GoProposal verifies your client’s identity using biometric checks that combine document verification, facial similarity, and risk screening. They also meet Money Laundering Regulations.

Written by Russell Henderson

Biometric checks include:

  • Document verification: Confirms authenticity of ID documents

  • Facial similarity: Matches the person to their ID photo

  • Other checks: Address verification, Politically Exposed Persons (PEP), sanctions, adverse media, and date of birth validation

GoProposal partners with Thirdfort to deliver these checks securely via a mobile app.

When to use a biometric check

  • When you can’t meet a client in person

  • When you need complete certainty of identity

  • For high-risk clients or remote onboarding

Banks and government bodies use biometric checks for accuracy and compliance.

What does the client experience look like?

  1. The client receives a text message to download the Thirdfort app.

  2. They complete tasks in the app:

    • Address verification:

      • The system checks the name, address, and date of birth against multiple sources (electoral roll, credit data, utility accounts)

      • The system performs screening for PEP, sanctions, and adverse media

      • If the check fails, the client uploads proof of address (for example, utility bill, bank statement)

    • Identity validation:

      • If the client has an NFC-enabled passport:

        • Passport image scan

        • NFC chip scan

        • Face scan for real-time match

      • If no passport:

        • The client selects an alternative ID and follows on-screen instructions

How to initiate a biometric check-in GoProposal

  1. Open the Client Record in the Client Hub.

  2. Go to the AML tab.

  3. Select New Check > Biometric Check.

  4. Enter the client’s phone number and country of residence.

  5. For international clients, include address verification.

  6. Click Send to Client.

The client then completes the process in the Thirdfort app.

What if the client doesn’t complete the check?

Thirdfort sends daily SMS reminders for 14 days.

What happens when the check is complete?

  • The client’s status changes to Review Results in the dashboard

  • You receive an email confirmation

  • Download and review the report before approving or declining

  • Reports are labelled Auto Approved or Consider. Always review before final approval

Understanding your biometric check report

The report includes:

  • Document verification

  • Facial similarity

  • Address match

  • PEP and sanctions screening

If flagged as “Consider”:

  • Address match failure: Review uploaded proof of address

  • PEP flag: Check details and confirm if it’s a true match. Apply enhanced due diligence if needed

  • Facial comparison failure: Verify the user followed the steps. If you can't confirm the identity, don’t proceed
