How to charge a catch-up fee for previous years’ accounts

The GoProposal alignment fee only covers the current financial year if your proposal runs for less than 12 months. If you need to bill for earlier work too, follow the steps below.

Written by Russell Henderson

Option 1: One proposal solution

  • Create a line item for previous years’ accounts work

  • Set this as a one-off cost

  • Use calculations to factor in the number of months or any other relevant details

📎 NOTE: The alignment fee will still apply for annual services in the current financial year if:

  • The proposal start and end dates are under 12 months

  • You've enabled the alignment fee for the relevant service

Option 2: Two proposal solution

  • Issue a separate proposal for previous years’ accounts work

  • Use the annualised costs feature to apply a discount or price adjustment, depending on whether the client pays upfront

📌 TIP: Add project names to proposals to help clients and your team distinguish between different pieces of work.
