How to configure a line item

Understand how to configure line items (services) in GoProposal, including content, pricing, and integrations.

Written by Jack Choppin

A line item represents a service in GoProposal. Each line item includes details such as title, description, and price. Configuring line items correctly ensures accurate proposals, consistent pricing, and clear client communication.

Line items appear in the Create Proposal page, allowing you to select the right service and price for each client.

Step 1 - Access the line items page

  1. Go to Configure and select Line Items.

  2. From this page, you can:

    • Add a new line item by scrolling to the bottom of a section and selecting Add New Line Item

    • Add a new section by scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking Add New Section

    • Edit an existing service by selecting Edit Line

Step 2 - Configure your line item

When adding or editing a line item, a pop-up window appears with several configuration options:

1. Line Item Content

  • Line Item Label: The service title shown in proposals and client documents

  • Description: Appears in proposals when the service is selected

  • Service Schedule: Defines responsibilities for the service in the engagement letter

    • If using OverSuite, assign a Smart Service Schedule

    • Or create your own schedule under Service Schedules

  • Key Dates: Choose if you want to include key dates

  • Tooltips: Add text, images, or videos to display when creating proposals for a value proposition

2. Line Item Pricing

  • Pricing Type: Choose monthly or one-off

  • Pricing Dropdown: Select a pricing method (for example, Annual Revenue Range for Annual Accounts)

  • Calculations: Add factors to adjust fees based on client-specific variables (for example, record quality)

3. AppsMap Icon

  • Add an AppsMap™ icon to showcase your recommended tech stack in proposals

4. Integrations

  • If connected to Xero or QuickBooks, assign account codes for revenue tracking

  • For Karbon or Senta, select workflows or services to trigger when the proposal is accepted
