What Is A Line Item?
A line item is a service and each line item is configured from several pieces of data such as its title, description and price.
The line items set up within your configuration area will appear when creating your proposals so you can choose the correct service and price for your prospect or client.
It's important you understand how to configure every aspect of a line item because there are some really cool features in there.
Here's how.

Step By Step Guide for Configuring A Line Item
Follow this guide to understand where you can configure your line items.
Step 1. Finding Your Line Items Page and adding a new Line Item
All of the services on your Create Proposal page can be found and configured in your admin area by going to Configure > Line Items
On this page you can add new line items (services you offer that aren't already in GoProposal) or tweak existing service fees.
Adding a new service
You can add a new service by scrolling to the bottom of the relevant section on your line items page and selecting add new line item.
To add a new section, scroll to the very bottom of the Line Items page until you see the 'Add New Section' button.
Editing an existing service
You can tweak existing services and fees by selecting 'Edit Line' for that service.
Step 2. Configuring Your Line Items
Whether you are adding or editing a service, a pop up box will appear allowing you to configure several aspects of the service. Here's a run through of each area.
1. Line Item Content
Within the contents tab you can tweak the description of that line item, add the service schedule associated with it and control tool tips and key dates.
Line Item Label: This is the title of the service which will be displayed when creating a proposal and in the documents sent to your client.
Description: Line item descriptions will appear in proposal when that service is selected.
Service Schedule: Service schedules form part of the Letter of Engagement and are specific to the responsibilities for that service when you have agreed it with a client.
They will be included automatically in your letters when you select a line item for a client, provided you have assigned a service schedule to that line item.
If you are using the OverSuite, you can assign a Smart Service Schedule to your line item or alternatively you can add your own by clicking 'create your own Service Schedules'
🤝 Click here if you need guidance on where you can find your Service Schedules.
Tooltips: Adding a tool tip to your line item enables you to decide on some text, an image or a video which can be brought up when creating proposals for value proposition.
The content you add here will appear when selecting the question mark button associated with services in the Create Proposal tool.

2. Line Item Pricing
The pricing tool embedded in your line items is at the heart of driving more profitable and consistent fees across your firm.
🤝 If you're a new member you can fill out the pricing wizard to get a starting point with your pricing structure.
Pricing Type: Decide whether you would like to charge this service monthly or one-off.
Pricing Dropdown: Choose from the list of available pricing methods to decide on a basic pricing method for this service.
For example with Annual Accounts, we would recommend using the Annual Revenue Range pricing method as a foundation for charging this service.
This allows us to systemise our approach to pricing different firms we may work with but ensure we are covering ourselves for the work done.
🤝 You can find more information on how to use different pricing types here.
Calculations: Obviously more than one factor could be at play when pricing a particular service, so adding calculations to your basic line price will allow you to vary the fee dependent on other factors.
For example in the case of Annual Accounts, you can multiply the basic fee (based upon Annual Revenue) by variants that depend on the quality of your clients records.

3. AppsMap Icon
The AppsMap™ feature is designed to position your Accounting business as an app authority and expert by producing a beautifully designed map in your proposals so your clients can visualise the tech stack you recommend. Find out more about the AppsMap and how this works here.
4. Integrations
If you have connected your GoProposal app to Xero, Quickbooks, Karbon or Senta there will be fields you can populate in this tab.
For Xero and Quickbooks decide which Account codes you would like to track revenue generated for this line item against.
For Karbon and Senta, choose which workflows or services you'd like to be triggered when this service has been agreed in a proposal.
