Understanding the proposal fee calculation

When you create a proposal and click Get Calculation, GoProposal displays the monthly and one-off totals. Here's what each option means and how it affects your proposal.

Written by Russell Henderson

Billing cycle

  • Choose whether to bill monthly or annually

  • We recommend monthly billing, but annual billing can suit scenarios like completing prior-year work

Fees in the proposal

Decide whether to show totals only or a full breakdown of fees in the proposal.

Subtotal view

  • Use the Subtotal View toggle to display either:

    • Totals only

    • A breakdown of fees for each section

Alignment fee

  • If your proposal covers less than 12 months and includes annual services, the system adds an alignment fee. For example, Annual Accounts, Corporation Tax Returns, or Directors’ Tax Returns. You configure this under the Alignment fee in the Pricing Tool

  • Clients can:

    • Pay the alignment fee as a one-off payment

    • Spread the cost across the remaining months of service

📌 TIP: Alignment fees prevent revenue loss when onboarding clients mid-year.
